From Microbiology to Ministry

Last Friday evening ( 11th April 2008 ) marked an exciting new chapter not only for the Peake family but also for the parishes of Derg and Termonamongan. Rev Alan Peake was Instituted as Rector into the parishes, that are based around the busy town of Castlederg .

Alan was formerly a Microbiologist before being ordained into the Church of England ministry. He, his wife Tammy and their four children have just moved from Woolton, a suburb of Liverpool , where Alan served as curate.

Over sixty people from the Peake’s Liverpool congregation came over for Alan’s Institution. His former Rector, Rev Kip Crooks, preached at the Service. Bishop Ken Good said that he had “every confidence that Alan’s ministry would be influential and effective” as he warmly welcomed the Peake family to their new ho me.
